Do you work in an office that has a lot of glass and not a lot of privacy? If so, you are in the same situation as a lot of other people. Solar Art gets requests every day from businesses in different industries in various locations for this exact reason. They have a lot of glass, typically in conference rooms, private offices, and storefronts, which creates a lack of privacy within the office. This customer was no different. The business owner has an office in San Diego, California, that had multiple private offices and conference rooms that lacked privacy. This is a customer that Solar Art has worked with in the past that reached out again to see if we could help them. The business owner was looking for a way to increase privacy at eye level without fully covering the entire piece of glass. Keep on reading to learn the details of the project and to see how Solar Art helped bring this customer’s vision to life!
Solar Art’s goal for this project was to find a window film solution to the problem the business owner was having. To do this, we needed to get more information on the project and see the glass in question. One of our sales representatives from our Orange County/San Diego location met with the on-site contact at the job site to get a better understanding of what this project was going to entail. While onsite, our sales representative learned that privacy was the biggest concern for the business owner. Employees felt like they were in a fishbowl and that anyone could see into the offices and conference rooms. While the customer wanted to increase privacy, he didn’t want to cover up the glass completely. He felt it would make the space feel small and closed off.
After meeting with the contact and looking at the problematic glass, our sales representative was ready to make a few suggestions. When it comes to increased privacy, decorative window film and custom graphics are going to be your two best options. From there, our sales representative explained the different routes the customer could go with both decorative window film and custom graphics. Custom graphics give you more flexibility in the sense that you can create anything you want and you get more of a custom design.
After working with our team and hearing the different options available, the business owner decided to move forward with decorative window film and custom graphics. He wanted to install the decorative window film in the areas that needed more privacy. He felt that one space could use more of a decorative design and window graphics would be a great fit. The decorative window film that the customer chose is Solyx Shimera, which has the appearance of etched glass and looks similar to 3M Dusted Crystal or frosted window film. From there, the customer worked closely with our in-house graphics department to come up with the design you see in the photos. It increases privacy and adds a subtle design, all without compromising natural light or covering up the entire piece of glass.
The business owner decided to move forward with a decorative window film on the phone room, 9 offices, and one conference room. He decided to move forward with window graphics only in one conference room that is in the middle of the office and could benefit from the decorative design. This installation ended up being 1,101 square feet of window film and took a team of installers two days to complete. In addition to decorative window film and window graphics, Solar Art also services wall graphics, solar film, anti-graffiti film, window security film, and exterior building wraps.
