How To Make Remote Work Comfortable

Working-from-home-tips

There is no doubt that this is a crazy time of life. Schools are shut down, work is shut down, basically, everything is shut down. As we try to navigate COVID-19 many Americans are working remotely to still get their job done. Now, don’t get me wrong, working remotely has its perks. My dog is incredibly happy that I am here with him all day and I don’t have to commute to and from work. Game. Changer. There are, however, a few challenges that come with remote work. The biggest challenge being your remote setup isn’t ideal.

If you don’t have a home office or a desk you might find yourself sitting on the couch or the kitchen table, which isn’t sustainable for long periods. If you do have a home office or desk in your home, they might not have the set up your work office has. While we are all trying to get through this pandemic and are making sacrifices, Solar Art can help you be more comfortable when working remotely. I know what you’re thinking...what about social distancing and not being around people? We will address that, so keep on reading to learn how Solar Art can help you during this time!

How solar film can make your home comfortable

Here’s the situation: You're sitting in your home at your designated work from home spot trying to get things done. As you're working away, you notice that this spot in your house gets annoyingly hot at certain times throughout the day and gets a ton of afternoon glare that reflects off your computer screen. You’re hot and uncomfortable, but what can you do? You are quarantined at home and have nowhere to go.

You might feel frustrated or helpless, and we get it. This is a strange situation we are all in, but Solar Art can help you! Solar film is a window film that can help reduce heat and reduce glare! You have the flexibility to install it to only those problem windows and doors, or to glass throughout your home. Solar film is installed directly on the glass surface and blocks heat and glare from entering your space. You have a variety of options to choose from, all of which provide different benefits.

Some solar films, like ceramic window tint, are made with no metal or dye. What this means is the look of your glass isn’t going to change much and your views aren’t going to be compromised. Ceramic window tint would be a good option for problem windows because you can only install it to those without having to worry the rest of your home is going to look off or un-uniform. Ceramic window tint blocks up to 63% of heat, 62% of glare, and 99% of UVA and UVB rays.

If you aren’t as worried about the look of your windows changing and are just concerned about reducing heat and glare, a reflective window film or dual-reflective window film might be good options for you. Reflective window film and dual-reflective window film are often used in extreme cases where heat and glare are big problems. With reflective window film and dual-reflective window film, the look of your space will change. From the exterior, it will look like a mirror and will prevent outsiders from being able to see in. Reflective window film blocks up to 79% of heat, 83% of glare and 99% of UVA and UVB rays.

How solar film can reduce your utility bills

Since we are all working remotely, we are spending more time at home. This means we are using more water, more electricity, and more energy. We can all expect to see an increase in our utility bills since we are spending less time at the office. Not only can solar film help make your home more comfortable, but it can also make your wallet more comfortable as well. By reducing heat and glare solar film is making your home more energy-efficient. What this means is you shouldn't need to turn to your thermostat and your utility bill should reflect that!

How custom graphics can increase your motivation

Up next on the list we have custom graphics. Solar Art is fortunate enough to have our own in-house graphics department that is ready to help you with whatever you may need, which is awesome. Your office at work might have a fun accent wall or a custom graphic of a motivational quote or your company values. However, your home office is probably just bare walls. If you are working from home and find yourself being bored or not motivated to do your work, custom graphics might be a great solution for you.

Custom graphics can be installed to your windows or your walls and you have the flexibility to create anything you want. In the past, Solar Art has installed custom graphics of a favorite travel destination or a motivational quote to home offices. One customer wanted a relaxing wall graphic of her favorite beach and another customer wanted their favorite quote installed on their office wall. Both customers said they wanted the custom graphics to boost their motivation while working at home.

When it comes to custom graphics, you can choose from an already designed graphic or make a custom piece of artwork. If you know what you’re looking for, great! We will be here to make your vision come to life. If you don’t know what you are looking for exactly, but have some ideas, our team can work with you (remotely, of course, for right now) and help you through every step of the process!

A huge benefit of both window graphics and wall graphics is that they can either be a more permanent design or only a temporary design while you are working remotely. You don’t have to feel bored or unmotivated staring at your bare white walls all day. Work from home in style and keep yourself as motivated as possible during this time.

How decorative window film can increase privacy in your remote set up

Decorative window film is the third branch of window film that can help you feel more comfortable while working remotely. Just like solar film and custom graphics, you have a TON of options with decorative window film. Some of the most popular types of decorative window films are frosted window film and patterned window film. Both of these options not only create a cool design, but they also increase privacy. If your remote workstation is in a place where people can easily see in or your family members are constantly walking by, decorative window film could be a great option because it will significantly increase privacy.

Decorative window film is installed directly onto glass surfaces, just like solar film. It can prevent people from being able to see into the room and see what you’re doing. It’s an easy way to get some of that privacy and confidentiality back that you have in your typical office at work.

Just like we said for custom graphics, decorative window film can also be easily removed once quarantine is over. If you want it to be a temporary fix and you want your house to go back to normal, all you have to do is call up Solar Art and our installation crew can easily go onsite and remove it with no damage to the glass whatsoever. If you decide you like the decorative window film as a more permanent design, you can keep it there for as long as you like!

What about social distancing?

What-about-social-distancing

Now, I know what you’re thinking. How are we going to do the installation with COVID-19 going on and social distancing? Are we even allowed to operate? We want to first start off by saying, yes, we are allowed to operate. According to the order, as a contractor, we are on the list of businesses approved to continue operating under California and Washington state law. As a company, we have also been closely following the CDC guidelines and making sure we are abiding by the rules and operating safely. With that being said, we have implemented a few new rules in our company when it comes to installations.

The first addition being we have put hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes in each of our vans. All of our installers and customers have easy access to them at any point throughout the day. Our installers are encouraged to use those products throughout the day in addition to frequently washing their hands. If they don’t shake your hand, they aren’t trying to be rude, they are just trying to keep everything as clean as possible.

Each van is also stocked with gloves that the installers wear whenever they aren’t physically installing. Wearing gloves on the job site can minimize the number of germs being spread.

All of our installation crews have been trained to be mindful of the social distancing and to try and stay at least 6 feet away from our customers. Our company policy is to leave the place and make it look like we were never there, and that has never been as important as right now. Our goal is to abide by all of the government rules and keep everyone as safe as possible while still getting our work done and helping you make your home as comfortable as possible!
