UV Window Film at a Building in Fife, Washington

Solar Art installs window film for heat rejection, glare rejection, and UV protection to homes and businesses every day. This case study is on a company based out of Fife, Washington, that was having a lot of problems with sun fading and high heat levels. Employees were uncomfortable, and interior furniture was getting ruined from the sun coming through the south-facing storefront windows. Since these are storefront windows, the business owner didn’t feel that blinds and shades were the solution. He did window treatment research online and came across Solar Art’s solar film page. He read about how solar film can reduce heat, reduce glare, and protect against ultraviolet rays in both residential and commercial settings. He was interested in learning more about UV window film for the storefront and decided to request a free quote!

Solar Art's Goals

Solar Art’s goals for this project were to meet with the business owner to learn as much about the scope of work as possible and then make recommendations for a window film that would solve their problem. Our sales representative from our Seattle office met with the business owner at the job site to take a look at the problematic storefront windows. While onsite, he talked with the business owner and learned that sun fading is a big problem. The interior furniture is getting faded from the ultraviolet rays, causing it to get damaged.

The business owner also explained that heat and privacy are also large issues. Because of the amount of sunlight that comes through the glass, the building gets hot, and people walking by can see straight in. Both are things that the business owner wants to be addressed. Once our sales representative learned the details of the project, he took exact measurements of the glass so we could provide an accurate quote and then showed the business owner samples of different UV window film that would be a good fit for this scope of work.

Solar Art's Suggestions

Our sales representative showed the customer samples of window film that would protect against sun fading, reduce heat, reduce glare, and increase privacy. He explained the different benefits of each so that the customer could pick the window film he felt was the best fit for the storefront glass.

What the Customer Chose

After working with our sales representative and seeing all of the different UV window film options available, the customer decided to move forward with an exterior window film made from Vista. This is a UV window film that blocks 99% of ultraviolet rays, increasing the longevity of the furniture, floors, and valuable items inside the building. This is also a reflective window film, which reduces heat, reduces glare, and also increases privacy. Views inside the building looking out will still be fully intact, but from the outside looking in, it will look like a mirror, which will significantly increase privacy.

Results of the Window Film Installation

This installation ended up being 23 panes and 217 total square feet of UV window film. It took one of our expert installers a day and a half to complete. Overall, Solar Art was very happy with how this installation turned out. We were able to successfully help the customer find an affordable window film solution that would protect against sun fading, reduce heat, reduce glare, and increase privacy. In addition to UV window film and solar film, Solar Art also services decorative window film, custom graphics, anti-graffiti film, window security film, and exterior building wraps.
