Security Window Film Installation in La Jolla, CA

Solar Art  installed a security window film to a bank in La Jolla, California! The customer previously had a security window film installed to their storefront, but the installation wasn’t done by a professional company. The security window film didn’t cover the entire glass and was peeling off, completely defeating the purpose. Being a bank, security was the top priority. The customer wanted added security in case the building gets invaded. The bank previously had a security window film installed but didn’t know much about it or what benefits it provides. They reached out to Solar Art to learn about security window film and see if it is what they are looking for.

Solar Art's Goals

Solar Art's goals for this project were to help the bank owner increase safety and security by replacing the damaged security film and replacing it with a fresh new layer. To do this, our sales estimator out of our Orange County/San Diego office met the customer on site to take a look at the glass in question. While onsite, our estimator is able to show the customer samples of different security film options, explain the benefits, and take exact measurements of the glass to provide an accurate quote.

The glass on the right side of the photo below shows what the glass looked like before Solar Art got there. You can see the window film isn't installed to the entire piece of glass, is peeling, looks unsightly, and worst of all, is providing no added security. The piece of glass on the left side of the photo shows what the glass looked like after Solar Art finished installing the security film. You can't even see the film, it fits the entire pane of glass, and started provided safety and security benefits right away.

Solar Art's Recommendations

Security window film comes in different thicknesses ranging from 4-14 depending on the location and the purpose of the window film. The thicker the security film is, the more difficult it is to get through. Since this scope of work was at a bank, our sales representative thought a thicker security film, like a 7 mil, would be appropriate for this job. Our sales representative showed the customer samples of different security films so he could feel how thick they are and what they look like to make the best decision for the bank.

What the Customer Chose

After working with our sales representatives, the customer decided that security window film was for them and they wanted to have it installed to glass throughout the bank. They took our estimators suggestion and moved forward with a 7 mil security window film to the entire bank. Security window film helps hold glass together and keep shards from flying in case someone or something hits it. Security window film will strengthen glass by 2-3 times. While security film won’t fully prevent someone from breaking through the glass, it will prolong the amount of time it takes them to do it. Security window film is proactive protection in addition to standard security systems like motion sensors or alarm systems.

Results of the Installation

The bank was extremely happy with their decision to install security window film and have added protection. If the bank does get invaded, security window film can easily be removed and replaced. Security window film works great in cases of invasion and natural disasters in both commercial buildings and homes. In addition to security window film, Solar Art also services solar film, decorative window film, anti graffiti film, custom graphics, and exterior building wraps in the San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle areas.
